A club for Miata drivers in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. We like to get together to drive the back roads and find out of the way places to stop for refreshment. Come join our group and hang out with people that like to do the same things you do!

10-27-2017Sweet Dough Pie FestivalMary and David Wharton are leading a drive through East Texas and Louisiana, with the destination being Lafayette. Please note - there are deadlines on the group rates for hotels below. Please keep that in mind when making arrangements. Thanks! 10/26 Thursday night-I have reserved a block of rooms under the code "CCT" (they can't reference Lone Star Miata Club-sorry) at Hampton Inn and Suites in Palestine, 2700 South Loop 256. Room rate is $110 + tax per night, which includes breakfast. This rate is available until 10/6/17 by calling the hotel directly at 903-723-0016. Please plan to arrive by 7am for driver’s meeting. We will depart at 7:30am on Friday morning. Our drive will take us through East Texas countryside, through 3 national forests, over the South Toledo Bend Resevoir and Dam, and western Louisiana. I have reserved a block of rooms under the code "LSM" for Friday and Saturday nights (10/27 and 10/28) at Staybridge Suites at 129 E. Kaliste Saloom Rd. Room rate is $89/night + tax per night which includes breakfast, and all rooms have kitchenettes. This rate is available until 10/1/17 by calling the hotel directly at 337-267-4666. Saturday is the 6th annual Sweet Dough Pie Festival at St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau! In addition to the pie festival, there are tastings, music, food, arts & crafts booths, ghost/historical tour of the cemetery, and tram tours of the town. We are planning a drive to the Tabasco plant on Avery Island Sunday morning for those that are interested. The Tabasco Restaurant 1868 is on property, if interested in grabbing a bite to eat. Saturday: -Convoy to the Driveway for Parade Laps and the Time Attack. This event will be capped at 50 entrants @ $125 each. This will include assorted wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Lunch spot TBD based on group size -Toll Road BBQ Run - Start by heading Northbound on the Toll past Austin to the tiny town of Ding Dong, Texas. From there you'll encounter scenic country roads that snake along the Lampasas River. Destination is Stephenville for Hard 8 BBQ -Shop till you drop - Just south of Buda is the San Marcos Outlet Malls. If one feels the need to stuff your small trunks to the brim with designer clothing...this is your run! Luncheon TBD based on group size -7:30 pm - Banquet (PinnBallz Kingdom) -10 pm - Boot Scoot Boogie (Dance Across Texas) Sunday: -Check out Hotel by 10 AM -North, South, East, West Brunch Runs James Phelps, Tejas Miata Club
